Yellow Water Dam, National Botanical Garden

Location: Bukit Cherakah, Shah Alam

Level: Suitable for beginners and experienced anglers

Cost: RM 30 for 7 hours

Set: Ultra light to heavy

Bait: They do not sell bait there, therefore you must buy beforehand. Chicken organs is suitable for this pond. As for lures, universal lures can be used! The fish are used to eating live fish bait so the best lure to use is spoon, white profile bait.

What kind of fish can you catch?

  • Pacu, Toman, Jelawat, Patin & Tilapia 

Additional Information:

  • They do not have any restaurants in the fishing area so please pack your own food!
  • You can rent a boat for RM 30 if you are keen to fish in the middle of the water.

Natural Exotic Fishing Pond

Location: Previously Rawang, but they have moved to Behrang, Tanjung Malim.

Level: Mediocre to expert anglers. Not recommended for first timers because the fishes are bigger and more aggressive when fighting.

Cost: RM 100 for 4 hours and RM 50 for deposit (Refundable)

Set: Medium to heavy (slightly more to the heavy side)

Bait: They sell baits such as Catfish (RM 1 each), Lampan (RM 1 each), and chicken intestine (RM 5 for a bucket). As for lures, it is preferable to use soft plastic or larger deep crankbait. 

What kind of fish can you catch?

  • Amazon Redtail Catfish, Asian Redtail Catfish, Chao Phraya Catfish, Mekong, Siamese Carp, Alligator Gar, Pacu, Toman & Arapaima.

Additional Information:

  • There is a restaurant available in the area. It’s quite large and they even sell beer!
  • There are no Natural Exotic Fishing Pond signboards leading to the destination, but look for the mosque, which is next to the entrance of the area where the pond is located. Instead of the conventional sign boards, they have placed pictures of people with their catch which will lead you to the pond!

SHG Pandamaran Klang

Location: Lot 1838 & 1839, Jalan Telok Gong, Pandamaran, 42000, Port Klang, Selangor. (Get directions)

Level: Recommended for experienced anglers. Quite tough for beginners because they need to know the time as to when the fish is being let go and the proper rig to use.

What kind of fish can you catch?

  • Grouper, Snapper, GT, Siakap

Additional Information:

  • There is a restaurant available in the area.
  • They have 4 different ponds, 2 are catch & release and the other 2 are catch & keep. You will have to pay a fee if you would like to bring home your catch.

Kolam Pancing Seksyen 24, Shah Alam

Location: Seksyen 24, Shah Alam

Level: Intermediate

Cost: RM 35 for 12 hours.

Set: Light to Medium.

Bait: Groundbait or bread. Lure is NOT permitted at this pond.

What kind of fish can you catch?

  • Mekong, Patin, Alligator Gar, African Catfish, Pacu & Grasscarp. 

Additional Information:

  • Relatively small pond because it is located in an urban area.
  • This place also has a big restaurant available for hungry anglers!

 Jugra SW Fishing Pond

Location: Banting, Selangor

Level: Beginners to expert angler.

Cost: RM 60 for 4 hours (catch & release pond), RM 2 for 1 hour (catch & keep pond). They have a set price per KG for each fish if you would like to bring it home. 

Set: Light to Medium

Bait: NO baits allowed! Any kind of lure can be used in this pond but the most commonly used lure is soft plastic.

What kind of fish can you catch?be 

  • Saltwater Fish → Siakap, Grouper, Red drum GT, Pomfret.

Additional Information:

  • No food places or restaurants available at the pond, therefore please bring food when you come to this pond, anglers! You can buy drinks at the counter though.
  • The area is separated into 4 ponds (Siakap, GT, Red drum & Grouper).
